Getting Creatively Crafty

So it has been a minute... I have missed you greatly blog. Time and Space have been amazingly strange around my bubble, and as always there is another spark of something even more stranger around the next cloud. So as one page turns another will open...

And so... here is what i have been doing lately.
I live in a crazy old house that creaks, smells of moldy dead people, has the occasionally ceiling that falls in. However the zombies under the stairs in the basement do keep to themselves these days. But the house speaks and has such a long story to tell. When i first crossed the threshold of my house 3 years ago this massive house had every room floor to ceiling FULL of furniture! It was amazing! Great even.. added to its creepy coolness. Existing in this house is a lamp room and chair room. They are just that.. a room full of lamps and a room full of chairs!! weird right? The sampling i had from these rooms is a treasure chest!! Here is one such a find:
Venus de Milo Lamp! How super awesome is this?? Right... that's what i thought. Well I wanted to make it better... and how much more awesome would it be if it were fluorescent green?!?! Super Incredible Amazingly Awesome! And it did turn out that way...
A thing of sheer beauty...

After a new set of wiring and and a nifty little shade, also acquired from the lamp room, she turned out so great!
Green lady... how can you not swoon...

...more from the skully mold...

Well I took advantage of the warm weather this afternoon an decided to pour the first half of my 2-part plaster mold. So I started with building a lower base of clay that allows for the plaster to have something to sit on. This lip also surounds the skully at its mid-way point which gives it an easier split when the other side is poured....

overhead view of skully with clay lip....

An finally here is the wonderful mess I created when i went outside to splatter an pour my plaster. Didnt use very good plaster... but hell thats wat the art store had at the moment of purchase... I will find out later if it was a good one or not when I pull the skully from one side of his plaster mold....

Very artistic arnt I?? The wonderful plaster swirlies!!..hehehe

oh well pics to come of plaster halves an skull imprints!!

I have a new character!!

Meet Evil Cupcake!! All full of that suspicious sugar an fluffy cake..... recipe for evil!

I made the plushie from these sketches ... rough sketches mind you... nothing spectacular or fully formed as a 2 dimensional character...

And come on.... you have to love the toast and crossbones in the corner!!
hehehehe...
=D
~there will be many more to come... this one is a rough version right now... but i am going to make some for sell very soon!

Skully in the wax worx...

I began this project as a mold i was making for a candle for my bathroom.... yes i was making candles just specifically for my bathroom!
But i became more interested in this as i kept making the positive form of the mold. So i might play with the form a little more as i create the negative part of the mold with plaster..
It was just going to be the skull... but as I sculpted an played with the image I added the crossbone for it to sit on. I will end up fusing the two together with a little heat.

I might even add colors or even an underlayer of red wax with the outer coating of the transparent white... hmm....
Green icky middle or black rotten center might be quite interesting as well!!
=D
~more to come.... pics of the mold an process....

more to the battered wings...

ok so i am working.. an here's the proof!

I have started to work on the central piece that goes with the battered wings. It is a wire form heart that has been wrapped with black rubber an sewn with red thread. I am also considering coating and/or dripping wax along the heart so it will link well with the wings. I am also leaving sections of the wire form exposed.

I hope that i can complete this work very soon! I am starting a bad habit by beginning a project an putting it down because i get so inspired by another..... ack!
It's an awful thing to do an i am determined to finish as much as i possibly can... mayb make deadlines.... hmmm we'll see...
=D

I hung it on my wall so that it will taunt me... an there are a few other things that inspire me plus the sketch i am going by. (that's rite... those are mini ninjas tacked to my wall.... got them out of the quarter machines at a grocery store ;D )
