New Things Happening...

So exciting to have new things happening here in Toastie world! I just recently got interviewed for a small blurb for the newspaper. So I really hope this generates some new business or push for everyone everywhere to have toast in their houses! I couldn't be more excited about it. The wonderful chicka who is writing it as well photographing it knows me so well so I anticipate great things. I can't begin to say how appreciative I am that she would even consider me as a subject to tell the world about! YEAH TOAST!

Next step is to get that etsy shop I've been screaming about up and running. Time is an issue as always. But I'm getting what I can get done in the time allotted to me. My new job should be beneficial as it is not taking up all my time I have leftover, and it may be really flexible in time and allow me to get into here earlier so I can come home and get more things accomplished. So I have to get my tush in gear to sit in front of my lively lappy and generate some etsy shoppings. It will come together...I just need to focus on me a bit, at least a couple days a week. I know its not that hard...but you do have to have a massive presence to be seen in a shop atmosphere.

In a couple of very short weeks I will be attending my second year at Tomato Art Festival. It should be a good year! Hoping for an amazingly great year of festivals and art events. I need the bump. So gearing up I'm making tons of tomatoes and things of the such. I sew because of the ease of it...its a meditative thing. I was never really much into the 3 dimensional art forms in college until the very end. But now at I've experienced it I have immersed myself in it fully. So much, in fact, that i miss doing prints. I have got to try and squeeze one out by tomato fest. *fingers crossed*

Big thanks as always to mom... she is amazing and we work off each other so well! Without her help and guidance this tomato thing wouldn't even be possible!

Valentines day fellow...

Meet Mihart! He is the newest character to my cast of plushy friends. He was developed a few years ago as a gift to my lovey boyfriend. I didn't know what else to do but give the man I love my heart. So he received the very first large pillow plush of my heart. (Gushy i know)
Gorgeous right? I know....he was the first. I used those child resistant pop on eyes for the more 3d feel. On my new little guy I have hand embroidered the faces. If I had more time I would have designed a machine embroidered face for my mother to sew on to the fabric. She currently embroiders all my lil faces for all my plush...and does a wonderful job! Yay mom!
So here is Mihart and the process in which he was formed. I had to alter a bit of the process from the original, to just fit within the size which was shrunk by half.
The end resultis Mihart! Enjoy!!

The everlasting toast

After a long day/week of working my butt off, I went out to have some mexicanny with my moms and my boyfriend. We found an awesome new place that is amazing. And well along with amazing comes with amazing leftovers. I have a habit of drawing on everything!! (Which is why I never leave home without my sharpie! ) so everlasting toast was born on the lid of my leftovers! I see a print coming from this one! ;)

Tornado drills in sleep...

Wow... so a few days ago we got slammed with mighty winds and horrible ran that poured all night. The winds were whipping around our house all night/early morning. I had to hunker down deeper in the bed to ignore all that mother nature was throwing at us. Then at about 3 am I was awakened to deafening beeping exploding from my phone as well as Jimmys. Ridiculous! All that for wind advisory. After we snuggled up and tried desperately to go back to sleep...it went of again. And again and again.... until I said screw it and turned on the TV. Tornados were headed on their way and I had to be up in an hour anyway to get ready for work.
So tired that day with waking up too early and then all the rain. I was soaked when I got into work because it was RAINNING SIDEWAYS!! Sheesh! Glad it worked itself out of our system because now we are dealing with 20° temps and snowfall. From tornados one day to ice and snow the next... gotta love Tennessee.

Work related stress

The ride into work is always a time of stress mixed with contemplation and the want to go home and curl up into bed with that second cup of coffee. Although this silly thing called traffic gets in the way of a great thought process. See while most people drive and concentrate on just that all the time, I end up multi tasking and spend my drive thinking of other things. Its probably the only time I get to myself. One day I will have more... one day.
Anywho traffic these days are just plain stupid. I have been trying to plot and plan other ways of getting around to get to work. The thought of a jet pack came to mind one day...flying with the birds away from all the metal nimrods. Sheesh! So here is what I sketched the other day after the thought.
Enjoy!

I just so happened to have left my sketchbook out on the living room table. My wonderful boyfriend made his opinion known about my posting my art again. So here's the first in quite some time...

Getting Creatively Crafty

So it has been a minute... I have missed you greatly blog. Time and Space have been amazingly strange around my bubble, and as always there is another spark of something even more stranger around the next cloud. So as one page turns another will open...

And so... here is what i have been doing lately.
I live in a crazy old house that creaks, smells of moldy dead people, has the occasionally ceiling that falls in. However the zombies under the stairs in the basement do keep to themselves these days. But the house speaks and has such a long story to tell. When i first crossed the threshold of my house 3 years ago this massive house had every room floor to ceiling FULL of furniture! It was amazing! Great even.. added to its creepy coolness. Existing in this house is a lamp room and chair room. They are just that.. a room full of lamps and a room full of chairs!! weird right? The sampling i had from these rooms is a treasure chest!! Here is one such a find:
Venus de Milo Lamp! How super awesome is this?? Right... that's what i thought. Well I wanted to make it better... and how much more awesome would it be if it were fluorescent green?!?! Super Incredible Amazingly Awesome! And it did turn out that way...
A thing of sheer beauty...

After a new set of wiring and and a nifty little shade, also acquired from the lamp room, she turned out so great!
Green lady... how can you not swoon...
